Urine drug testing procedure with Integrated E-Z Split Key Cup.

The Integrated E-Z Split Key Cup is an on-site rapid drugs screening urine test, that can be performed in office, school and/or home for different drug testing needs, like pre-employment drug test, random drug testing or post accidental test for presence of drugs. This is one-step drug test kit for the detection of multiple drugs and and drug metabolites in human urine.

Don’t forget, all non-negative drugs screening results are presumptive and should be confirmed by GC/MS or LC/MS or any other approved alternative method.

Step 1

First, we suggest to read test insert instruction to understood clearly urine drug screening procedure with EZ split key cup, that you will do.

Remove the key by twisting it from the center of the cup cap. Key is held by technician.

Step 2

Collector dates and initials the security seal, which includes in the drug screening test kit.

Open cap with the pull tab. Donor provides specimen not lower that mark on the cup minimum fill volume.

Step 3

Secure cap to protect urine spills by pressing down on the pull tab untill audible click heard. Place security seal over drug screening cup.

Place drug testing cup on the flat surface.

The collector have to check the temperature of the specimen if it was or was not within the required temperature range (32-38 °C/90-100 °F). For that, read the indications of green color line on the front of the integrated E-Z split urine drug screening cup.

Step 6

If the drug test cup includes specimen validity test, read adulteration testing results in 3-5 minutes. See drug screening cup insert and color chart for interpretaion of adulteration test results included.

Parameters tested with the adulteration or specimen validity strips:

Creatinine is a waste product of creatine; an amino acid contained in muscle tissue and found in urine. A person may attempt to foil a drug test by drinking excessive amounts of water or diuretics such as herbal teas to “flush” the system. Creatinine and specific gravity are two ways to check for dilution and flushing, which are the most common mechanisms used in an attempt to circumvent drug testing. Low creatinine and specific gravity levels may indicate diluted urine. The absence of creatinine (<5mg/dl) is indicative of a specimen not consistent with human urine.

Specific gravity tests for sample dilution. The normal range for specific gravity is from 1.003 to 1.030. Values outside this range generally indicate specimen dilution or adulteration.

Nitrite tests for commonly used commercial adulterants such as “Klear” or “Whizzies”. They work by oxidizing the major cannabinoid (marijuana) metabolite THC COOH². Normal urine should contain no trace of nitrites. Positive results generally indicate the presence of an adulterant.

Glutaraldehyde tests for the presence of an aldehyde. Adulterants such as “UrinAid” and “Clear Choice” contain glutaraldehyde which may cause false negative screening results by disrupting the enzyme used in some immunoassay tests. Glutaraldehyde is not normally found in human urine; therefore, detection of glutaraldehyde in a urine specimen is generally an indicator of adulteration.

pH tests for the presence of acidic or alkaline adulterants in urine. Normal pH levels should be in the range of 4.0 to 9.0. Values outside of this range may indicate the sample has been altered.

Oxidants/PCC (Pyridinium Chlorochromate) tests for the presence of oxidizing agents such as bleach and hydrogen peroxide. Pyridinium chlorochromate (sold under the brand name “UrineLuck”) is a commonly used adulterant. Normal human urine should not contain oxidants or PCC.

Step 7

Read drug screening results at 5 minutes.

Step 8

You can make a photocopy of the drug test results by placing cup with the card face down on the copy machine or scanner.

After that don’t forget: All preliminary positive drug test results must be confirmed by laboratory drug testing.
